The Sarawak Thalassemia was started in Kuching by a group of parents and wellwishers of Thalassaemic patients in Sarawak. In 1999, The Sarawak Thalassaemia Society extended its wings to Sibu and Miri to cater for the increasing number of Thalassaemic patients in Sarawak. Last year alone, we had 5 new cases diagnosed in Sibu.

Why It Is Formed?
To help thalassaemia patients financially and spiritually. The cost of Desferrel which is important to extend the lives of these patients is very expensive and therefore funding is provided where concerned.
